Artist Bio
Kalipssus Born, raised in and hailing from Medellin, Colombia, Mighty Kalipssus is the definition of Struggle & Survival. Growing up in a country ridden with corruption, Kalipssus faced many challenges while in the streets of his home city. Losing some of his closest friends to the shady underworld of crime, he then turned to Reggae and the Christian Orthodox Church for salvation and made a vow never to make the same mistake. What followed was his path of self discovery, enlightenment and the beginning of his passion in Music which led him to embracing the Rastafar-I way of life.
His musical career began in the early 90’s as a Sing Jay, representing the Hip-Hop movement while building his musical identity through many MC Battles. As he continued to study the roots, truth and history of mankind, his sense of spirituality grew stronger. In 2004, he released his first demo entitled ‘Warrior Ina Babylon’, alongside L-Mental, a Rap Producer from Medellin. After several tracks, Mighty Kalipssus began collaborating with Alfredo MC to bring together their strong lyrics in a unified message depicting the struggle of the people against the system foundation and the social conflicts in Colombia.
After several recordings, Mighty Kalipssus went on to enhance his solo career, refining his style and redefining his musical perceptions to embrace all the elements of the Hip-Hop culture. Coupled with his knowledge of the Pan-African past, the Afro-Colombian artistic roots, not to mention his strong Faith and will to succeed, Mighty Kalipssus set to blaze every mic he graced and any stage he stepped on.
In mid 2006, through the music site MySpace, Moe of Introspective Records’ from Canada, discovered this bright and gifted talent, reached out to Mighty Kalipssus and immediately began collaborating on several tracks. Since that day, Moe has seen Kalipssus grow both as a man, a human being and as an Artist. Today, even though they are in two different hemispheres, seemingly worlds apart, they share the pain of their respective politically unstable countries and the vision for peace to be restored. Their struggles have helped them to create musical masterpieces, connect on very deep spiritual levels and foster a movement of positive and peaceful people known as “Famila Univerzel--”.
In short, from the ashes of poverty, oppression and injustice rose a Warrior with the Heart of a Lion, fiercely determined to speak out for the sake of his people, in the name of the Truth in order to deliver a positive message to every conscious ear blessed to hear his Voice. Mighty Kalipssus speaks from his Soul, straight through his heart, while walking the road of righteousness, meditation, truth and reason.
